Stour Concert Brass began their Summer Programme with a visit to Droitwich where they performed a concert in the bandstand in Lido Park. The large appreciative audience were already sat down in their deck chairs for the concert to start. The band’s varied programme opened with Kenneth Alford’s classic march The Middy and included a variety of music from stage and screen including Toy Story, Singing In The Rain, Everything I Do I Do it For You from Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves and Cruella De Ville from 101 Dalmatians. Two Solo items were featured with Flugel Horn Soloist Mike Butler featured in Burt Bacharach’s Alfie and the trombone trio of Andrew Scarboro, Marshall Faizey and Richard Barker featured in Ray Steadman Allen’s Peter James and John. The ever-popular Breezin Down Broadway, a selection of music from popular Broadway Shows, brought the concert to a fine conclusion. A number of members from the local Salvation Army Band came to support and were very complementary, about the band’s performance and their choice of programme.
