Shipston Town Band joined many other bands to take part in the popular Pershore Midsummer Brass. They presented a varied programme of music including Parade Of The Charioteers from Ben Hur, Anything Goes and a rarely heard march by William Rimmer The Avenger. They were pleased to welcome back Luke Barker from the Flowers band as guest Principal Cornet. Luke began his playing career as a 7-year-old with Shipston Junior Band before progressing through the bands to become the band’s principal cornet and then graduating to the principal Cornet Chair with NYBBGB and his current position with Flowers. Luke delighted the audience with his performance of Don’t Doubt Him Now by Len Ballentine. It is always very special when players remember their roots and, whilst we as a band are very proud of Luke’s success, we are equally pleased that he maintains his links with our band.
