In order to encourage the development of our own youngsters and to let other local youngsters know of opportunities that may be available, Steph Wilson, our Training Band Leader, has liaised with Brass Band England’s development officer Sheila Allen to arrange a visit to our local primary schools by Flora Brass.
Flora Brass are students at the Royal Welsh College Of Music and Drama in Cardiff. They are an established brass quintet and travelled up to perform at Shipston Primary School, Brailes CE Primary School and Acorns Primary School at Long Compton in a whistle-stop tour as part of the Brass Foundations Programme. Their concerts included pieces such as the theme from How To Train Your Dragon and Bear Necessities from the Jungle Book. The children were thoroughly enthralled and Steph Wilson has already had parents ringing her up to see if their children can learn to play.
