Shipston Town Band would like to extend huge congratulations to former players Luke Barker and Alec Banner, and all their colleagues at Flowers Band, on their outstanding success at the 2026 European Brass Band Championships in Linz, Austria.
Representing England against the very best bands in Europe, Flowers Band delivered a remarkable performance of Alienus by Thomas Doss and Oliver Waespi’s West Wind, which crowned them European Champions—an incredible achievement, made even more special as it was their debut at the contest.
Held at the prestigious Brucknerhaus in Linz, the Championships brought together 15 elite bands from across the continent, competing over two days with both a set test piece and an own-choice programme.
Flowers Band rose to the top of a world-class field, finishing ahead of Valaisia Brass Band (Switzerland) and Tredegar Town Band (Wales).
To represent England is an honour in itself—but to go on and win the title of European Champions is truly exceptional. Everyone at Shipston Town Band is immensely proud to see former members playing at the very highest level of the brass band world.
Congratulations once again to Luke, Alec, and all at Flowers Band on this fantastic achievement!
