On Saturday July 1st, Shipston Town Band conducted by Howard Gibbs performed at the prestigious Pershore Midsummer Brass where 25 bands performed at 4 different venues in a feast of music making beginning at 10.00 a.m. and finishing 12 hours later. They performed at the famous Pershore Abbey to open proceedings at 10.00 a.m. and presented a carefully chosen programme including the Theme from Out Of Africa and two perfectly performed solos by Flugel Horn Darran Wheeler and Solo Horn Liz Smith to well-earned applause. A second performance followed at the 15th Century Star Inn where Principal Cornet Paolo Pezzangora played Sugar Blues and the Tenor Horns played an arrangement of Scott Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag to conclude a good day’s music making.
