Pub quiz raises money for town band

A charity quiz in Shipston has raised a thousand pounds and donated the money to support the town’s much-loved brass band.

Thirst Edition, a micropub in Church Street, raised the money through collections at its regular Thursday quiz nights. The funds raised are donated to a local charity once they hit the £1,000 target – and this time Shipston Town Band has been the lucky recipient. The band is a registered charity and performs at a wide variety of events and concerts locally and across midlands. The band – which has been established for well over a century –  includes a training group for brass beginners and a community band called Stour Concert Brass.

Previous recipients of the Third Edition quiz fund have included the local music festival The Shipston Proms and Shipston Foodbank. Concert Brass members Tim and Caroline Banks are regular quiz participants and presented the cheque to the band’s treasurer, Alan Birch (pictured), at a recent rehearsal.
