The historic church of St Peter ad Vincula in Hampton Lucy was the venue for a Proms Concert featuring Shipston Town Band and a number of local vocalists. The church was packed and bedecked with Union Jacks of all sizes. The band featured a number of film-related items in its programme including The Parade Of The Charioteers from Ben Hur and a selection of music from The Lion King. Three solo items were featured. Paolo Pezzangora played Under The Boardwalk on cornet and Darran Wheeler played The Shadow Of Your Smile on flugelhorn. The horns and baritones joined forces in an arrangement of the Carpenter’s Hit We’ve Only Just Begun. The concert drew to a traditional finish with the audience and vocalists in fine voice accompanying the band in Rule Brittania, Jerusalem and of course Land Of Hope and Glory.
